input latency offset recording - can we settle this once...

This is worthy of a new thread since I haven't found a conclusive answer to this.

I'm NOT talking 'bout delay compensation with regards to plugins and mixing - and I'm not talking about it in the context of using hardware inserts.

What I am unable to find an answer on - both on forums and in the PT manual is:

If I use Pro Tools 11 with a 3rd party interface - NOT an avid interface

Will Pro Tools adjust for the input latency induced by my interface and the buffersize setting - WHEN RECORDING?

I can not find an answer to this...

In my case I use a focusrite USB 2.0 interface with proper asio drivers

For example: lets say that I set my buffer to 512 samples and lets say that this gives me an input latency of 3.5 milliseconds

Will Pro Tools "talk" with my focusrite interface and adjust accordingly for the "known" input latency?

I've read that when using HD interfaces there are tickboxes that say something like "adjust for input latency after recording" - these tickboxes are not there when using a 3rd party interface

SO - is this feature a "HD only" typical avid - thing - or have they implented this feature for everyone using Pro Tools - even the ones using 3rd party interfaces???

If it's a HD only feature I'll jump the ship and swim back to Cubase.
