My version of Pro Tools generally seems to work when I open sessions that I've started at home. However, when I try to open sessions I've created at school, I encounter many problems and get a variety of strange error messages. Usually, I'll get this error message first:
"Could not complete the Open Session... command because Access violation occurred, unable to read location: 0x00000036."
After clicking OK and trying to open a different session, even sessions I created at home, I get the same error message. After quitting and reopening Pro Tools and trying again to open a session from home, I then get this error message:
"The selected ASIO audio device could not be initialized. Please choose another audio device."
I click OK and the Playback Engine window appears, showing the Focusrite USB 2.0 Audio Driver as the selected audio engine (the only option available). I click OK and the same "... audio device could not be initialized" error message appears. After that, I am usually not able to open any session until I reboot. These error messages appears when I try to open any session:
"Access violation occurred, unable to read location: 0x00000004."
"Could not complete the Open Session... command because Access violation occurred, unable to read location: 0x00000036."
"while translating Audio Engine settings."
Sometimes, after exiting and reopening the program several times, I'm finally able to open sessions from home. When I again try to open a session from school, however, I get more error messages:
"Could not complete the Open Session... command because while translating Audio Engine settings."
"Could not complete the Open Session... command because Access violation occurred, unable to read location: 0x00000036."
I'm not quite sure what the right combination is yet, but sometimes, VERY rarely, I am actually able to open sessions from school. However, I get this error message, along with another assertion error that I didn't write down, when I try to play the session back:
"Assertion in "..\Mdie_TrackPlayer.cpp", line 476"
Here's what I've done to troubleshoot so far, none of which have yet been successful:
1. Went through everything in the Set Up and General Troubleshooting thread.
2. Completed all of the optimizations and went through all of the troubleshooting steps in the Windows 7 Optimizations and Troubleshooting list:
http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/T...oting/en349411
3. Tried holding "n" while Pro Tools boots up. I get the Playback Engine window and I press OK for Focusrite USB 2.0 Audio Driver. I get this error message: "The selected ASIO audio device could not be initialized. Please choose another audio device."
4. Reinstalled Pro Tools completely, and reinstalled the most up-to-date driver for my audio interface.
5. Created new session and imported session data from my school sessions.
6. Used a program we have at school called Readity Writer to grant read and write access to all of the sessions I work on at school.
7. Searched the internet using my specific error messages to see if someone has already encountered and solved this issue.
