My Eleven Rack, Superior Drummer, Pro Tools Challenge To Myself

Using solely my Eleven Racks for guitar and bass (all internal processing, no external mics and/or cabs), Pro Tools and its resources; I’m challenging myself to re-record an album I was part of with a former band. As I no longer have the two Ibanez guitars mainly used during the process and/or access to the Les Paul Custom and Junior also used; I will be recording this with different guitars and in standard tuning, as opposed to Eb and Drop Db. I was intimately involved in the entire original recording process and – outside of what was done within the main console (yes, a biggie) – am very aware of the what and how aspects for the guitar and bass tracks. I’m going to do my best to duplicate these aspects.

That said; I attempted the first two this past weekend and – aside from the fact that I don’t have near the time available and invested in my playing as I did then – wow…it’s gonna take a lot more than I expected to accomplish everything. I fully expected the drums to be super challenging, however, just getting the guitar tones turned out to be more of a challenge then I expected. I’ve got the original (yes…fully mixed and mastered) track in the session for reference and this has really shined a light on the digitally overtones inherent in modeled guitar processing. I’m trying to eliminate as much of this as possible on the front end. …and NO…this isn’t a slam modeler threads. I love my Eleven Racks (<--yes…both of them).

I'll post my results as they develop, for anyone interested. Wish me luck…
