PT12 ONLY freezes with Novation Launchkey49 MIDI keyboard plugged in--It causes all apps + mouse to freeze completely after project loads and only allows power button restart. The only error that comes up is AAE error -20007 in the background as I'm loading a session-->which is listed in the knowledge base as "An AAE -2007 error appears when opening some sessions. Is the error is dismissed, Pro Tools seems to function normally." (?).
http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...ening-sessions But no errors from the OS, screen just freezes.
Without the keyboard plugged in, PT workflow runs fine with no problems either creating a new project or loading an old one. Also, occasionally I can create a new project with the MIDI plugged in with no problems, but nothing unique about the attempts (it will freeze eventually though 5-10 min left untouched). Sometimes it also freezes during the "initializing controllers" sequence of startup, but again, no unique pattern/behavior leading up to it. Not very Windows savvy (failry recently mac user) so looking for any help on 1.) if it
is the keyboard or instead 2.) a problem with my system.
I appreciate anything and let me know if more info is needed and I'll get it to you quick. Thanks.
Basic specs:
-MSI GS60 6QE Sig. Ed.
-Windows 10 Home 64bit OS
-Intel i7 6700 HQ CPU @ 2.6Ghz
-16 GB installed RAM
-Toshiba 256GB M.2 SSD (OS boot drive w/ PT12.8.1) and 500GB Samsung 850 Evo (Backup w/ projects)
-Scarlett Focusrite 2i4 interface (attached via stock usb cable into USB3)
-Novation Launchkey 49 Midi keyboard (attached via stock usb cable into USB3)
Troubleshooting:
-Run as adminstrator
-Ran keyboard in Ableton trial --> keyboard loads and responds fine
-Tried an Alesis keyboard--> causes same freeze
-Reinstalled PT, updated drivers for PT and the MIDI
-
Walked through setup with Novation tech rep--they "ruled out" Novation hardware/driver problem
-Plugging keyboard in after PT has loaded
-I followed instructions for optimization on Novation and Avid's FAQs support with no success--PTs won't even load to the point where the MIDI can be mapped to Peripheral settings.
-Have tried monitoring CPU but task manager also freezes (CPU reaches ~45% each time right before freeze)
-No problem with RAM
-Uninstalled/removed all plugins
-Rerouted session folders between the boot drive and backup drive
