Midi recorded thru firewire connection

When recording a VI to an instrument trk, all of the notes played in a passage are reduced to quarter notes as if being quantized that way. Im using a yamaha motif xf as my controller. The notes sound when played but somehow sixteenth notes become quarter notes in the clip when recording. It's as if the software can only receive nothing faster than quarter notes in record mode. Help……..pls! :eek:
