Midi on Instrument Track not triggering Structure

Hey everyone,

I normally Rewire drum doubling, but thought I would try using midi on an instrument track to trigger a sampler within PT. For some reason though, the midi info on the instrument track does not seem to be triggering the inserted sampler.

Is there anything obvious I may be missing? I have Structure as an insert, audio output to Master, and various midi notes on D3 on the same track (and the key range in Structure as wide as possible).

Pro Tools 12.5.2 Download

I have tried to download 12.5.2 several times with different computers (one with Chrome, one with IE11) and keep having the same problem. When I try to uncompress the file I get messages that the file is either empty or corrupt.

The downloaded file is named Pro_Tools_12_5_2_Win_91791.zip with a size of 1,663,582KB.

Any suggestions?

CPU Overload

I recently trashed my prefs because of an elastic audio problem.....But ever since i trashed them I have been getting CPU overload errors I previously never had.... Never had to adjust my playback engine either.... Running many plugins have always worked for me. I hit the play button and I get the messages.... Are there some settings in other areas of the computer I need to readjust for things to go back to normal?

Cleaning rubber surface.

Hello, my MC control black rubber surface has become kind of sticky. Does anyone have experience restoring this back to its original condition? Dishwasher soap and a soft cloth doesn't work, I read somewhere that talcom powder might do it, but wanted to get another opinion.

Quick way to identify record-enabled tracks?

Is there a quick way to identify all currently record-enabled tracks?

I know I can just manually scan through the tracks, but this isn't as easy when you have a large number of tracks. I'm tired of discovering that I've been accidentally recording over additional tracks when I thought I only had one track enabled.

I suppose I could uncheck record-enable for the current track, and watch to see if the "Track Record Enabled" warning light is still one. Is that how people generally do it?

Selling my Mac Pro 12-core. It's a great machine.

Specs:

12 core, 3.33ghz
32 GB RAM
256 SSD boot
4 hard drive bays
CD/DVD-R

I wanted to use a 4k TV with my mac at 60hz, so after quite a bit of searching, this AMD RX460 card works amazingly well. Just requires a $29 adapter to use with HDMI 2.0 TV's. This card has HDMI, DVI and Displayport connectors. Since it is a PC card, there is no boot screen. Also including the original Nvidia GT120 card with it in the event you need a boot screen - can use both cards together I imagine.

Dual Gigabit Ethernet ports, Firewire 800, Digital audio in/out

I used with ProTools HDX for years and works perfectly. Kept in cool machine room with MacsFanControl to keep fans higher and processors cooler.

$1200 + PayPal + shipping.

When I press record, I don't want Pro Tools to record the note I'm currently holding

While I hold a Midi note down and press record, I don't want Pro Tools to record the note I'm currently pressing. I want Pro Tools to ignore that note and record notes that come in "after" I press Record (like it used to be)

I put Pro Tools into a loop and press play, then while I'm playing, I'm not able to punch in the Record button at an instant "in-between" my playing to record the notes into the loop.

PT 12.7.1.733 NFR Annual - Video Engine Will Not Load!

Hey guys,

I'm on an NFR copy of the Annual Sub PT12. Running Mac OSX Sierra 10.12.4. I can't open these .AAF's that I need to open to finish a Foley session I'm doing.

Here's what happens:
- I double click my .aaf file
- I click okay on the two pop ups to begin loading my files
- I get a load bar that says "Restoring Audio Files"
- I get a popup over that load bar that says "The Video Engine must be .
enabled to work with video. Would you like to enable it now?"
- I click yes
- I get a load bar that says "Waiting for the Video Engine to launch...:
- The Bar loads to like 30% and doesn't budge for a looong time after that

Anyone else experiencing anything like this?

I also tried opening a blank session, then "Importing Session Data". Audio loads, but Video Engine load bar maxes out then doesn't budge after that. Already tried deleting Avid Audio Engine from /Users/Shared.

Another Renewal-Purchase-Support Problem

Hi Jeffro,

normally I try to help other people here, now I need help myself.
I tried to renew my PT12HD license today, Friday May 12th 2017,
and after the successful payment via Paypal when I should get redirected
to the Avid shop site to have the purchase completed the site got stuck
and finally it said that this site was not accessable.

I tried it several times again without any success.
The payment itself was successful though yet it looks like the purchase was
not completed as there is still the license in the cart in my account waiting to
get purchased.

Therefor I tried to contact the Avid shop/Arvato via the email address on the
Paypal invoice, again, without any success. I get all my emails back and it says
this email address cannot be found. Wtf? It´s the official Avid shop/Arvato email
address! shop.avid@arvatosystems.com (copied from the Paypal invoice)

Further I tried to contact Avid support and, again, on trying to send the completed
form to Avid (several attempts) it cannot be delivered, saying site not found.

Everything else, any other emails, websites DO work as usual and I have not set up
any private settings, so there is something wrong with the whole Avid support/store
web stuff obviously. I have access to my Avid account and my products though.
I have seen here that other people have experienced similar problems with the Avid
store and support, so this problem seems to be on Avid´s side.

To be honest I don´t know what to do now? If I cannot even reach Avid support this
is bad. So do you have any possibility to check out what happens in the store?
I am stuck myself as for searching for solutions and it´s a lot of money that has been
paid already for...nothing? I don´t know. Not cool actually.

Please, any help much appreciated!

midi copy clip problems 12.7.1

A clip has a few midi notes in it. The notes have been quantized and some start
directly at the start of the clip which is exactly a bar long on the grid. All the notes fit within the region completely.
One way of copying a clip used to be by holding down 'alt' and then dragging the copy to wherever. That still works, except if you decide to drag the copy in front of the original, and then move the end of the copy back up to the start of the original. It's a very basic butt join edit. But what's this? as soon as the back end of the copy region (clip) touches the front end of the original the notes at the start of the original clip disappear. Let me repeat, all the notes AND clips are quantized and all the notes start and end in the clip.

Is this is another of Avid's improvements for 12.7.1.? or am I a silly old ignoramus?

VARISPEED Elastic Audio without movings clips.

Hello,

I use Varispeed options to emulate pro tools like tape machine.

The purpose is sound design for films.

Working very well BUT this method move the others clips in The Timeline...

Any idea for how to use VARISpeed but not move in consequence the others clips on the same track?

Can anyone tell me - for the purposes of editing a completed mix , is it possible to move all audio and automation together - including automation on aux tracks?. It's obviously easy to move the audio and auto together on normal tracks but that doesn't grab the aux auto.

Win-10 - Leaves a lot to be desired!

For all the hype about how wonderful Win-10 would be, and after waiting nearly a year to make the leap, and checking and re-checking here with things to think about in making the upgrade from Win-7, about 2 weeks ago, I made the jump. So far, its been frustrating and a headache on several fronts.

First off, Win-10 itself has some quirks that just don't make sense. Among them, it doesn't ever want to just power down. I click to turn off the computer, it takes forever, and even if it shuts down, I'll come back a few hours later, and its ON...all by itself. Or, it just sits in hibernation mode, even though I've turned that option off. Apparently, many have had the same experience.

But more importantly is what its done to audio. Before upgrading, I had few if any issues with audio with my Focusrite Scarlett 8i6 interface. Sound was clean, noise free, and all worked well. Since the upgrade, I get pops and clicks, and had to spend hours on the phone with Focusrite to solve all kinds of issues with the Mixcontrol and USB drivers. And even after all that, I still get some pops and clicks on audio playback both in Pro Tools and anything else. Its nuts!

Also, Win-10 takes forever to boot up, even though I've thinned out a lot of the auto load stuff. And forever to shut down...if it does shut down.! Its crazy!

Not asking for any advice...just needed to rant! [/rant]

Maximum Number of tracks already exists in current config?

I have less than 128 mono audio tracks running in this session, I have some hidden and inactive but they seem to be counting towards my allowed track count because I found a couple I could delete I was able to make a couple more tracks.

Is there a way to not have hidden and inactive tracks count towards track count?

Also the message implies that I could adjust the config perhaps for more tracks? Or does it refer to the version of PT I'm running.

I done a lot of upgrades for plug ins, but I searching for the "production bundle" that was with PT TDM (Red2, Red3, Pultec and many more).
Are there around a version AAX 64bit to use inside PT12?

Offline Bounce with Vienna Ensemble Pro

Anybody able to do an offline bounce while using Vienna Ensemble Pro on slaved computers? PT simply locks up for me. Have to kill it then restart the application.
